Sherpa's story really began in 1990, shortly after completing my masters degree. That's when I married a man I loved dearly, and a man who had just been diagnosed with brainstem cancer. Despite his two-year prognosis, we happily celebrated our twelve-year wedding anniversary before his death in 2002.

Through my husband's long journey, like many others, he wasn't alone. I was there for every appointment; there for the long hours of treatment, awaiting test results, and there for the maddening struggle with HMOs and healthcare providers. Thankfully, I had the technical background to understand the complicated terminology and to conduct my own research into new treatment options. Through our long twelve-year journey, I witnessed the very challenges Sherpa is dedicated to overcoming. That's why I launched Sherpa - to help others the way I once helped my husband.
